About the job

We are a growing team in the exciting AI-augmented developer tools space, offering a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge tech.

At Kodesage, you'll have the freedom and flexibility, in a passionate and seasoned team. We're looking for engineers who thrive on ownership and believe in a culture where the best ideas win. If you're ready to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and make a real impact, we'd love to hear from you!

Why This Role Exists
Kodesage wins customers by proving value fast, deploying our AI platform into complex, mission-critical legacy environments and growing from there. Our Forward Deployed Engineers own the customer journey from first deployment through expansion, working directly with enterprise engineering teams running Oracle Forms, APEX, Delphi, PowerBuilder, Lotus Notes, RPG, Java, C++, and other technologies that most of the industry has forgotten how to touch. You'll be the person the customer's engineering team relies on.

The Role
As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you sit at the intersection of customer success, technical delivery, and product development. The position has two complementary dimensions. On the delivery side, you'll lead on-site and remote deployments of the Kodesage platform into enterprise environments: handling infrastructure setup, codebase onboarding, and initial configuration for customers in financial services, energy, telecom, and government. You'll become the customer's trusted technical partner: running workshops, training development teams, solving everyday problems and uncovering expansion opportunities across additional systems and use cases. On the product side, you'll translate real-world deployment challenges and customer feedback directly to our product engineering team -- helping shape what we build next. As a star FDEs at Kodesage you don't just deploy software. You help to build a relationship that turn a single-system pilot into a company-wide platform by showcasing the value.

Core Skills And Experience

Professional Experience: 8+ years in software engineering, consulting, or solutions engineering with significant enterprise customer-facing experience. You've sat across the table from engineering managers, architects, and developers and earned their trust.

Legacy Systems Depth: Real, hands-on experience with one or more legacy technology stacks: Oracle Forms & Reports, PL/SQL, APEX, COBOL, AS/400 (RPG), PowerBuilder, Informix 4GL, Delphi, Lotus Notes or similar. You've worked inside these systems, not just read about them.

Enterprise Deployment: Experience deploying software in complex, regulated environments: on-premise, VPC, or air-gapped. Comfortable with Docker, Kubernetes, and enterprise infrastructure constraints. You've dealt with security reviews, change management boards, and multi-stakeholder sign-offs.

Customer Engagement: Proven ability to manage technical relationships at enterprise accounts. You can run a discovery workshop on Monday, troubleshoot a deployment issue on Tuesday, but also able to present an expansion roadmap to the VP Engineering if required.

Communication: Clear English and Hungarian communication. Ability to explain deep technical concepts in business terms for non-technical stakeholders and vice versa.

Engineering Fundamentals: You write clean, well-structured code. You can read and refactor PL/SQL or similar, debug deployment scripts, and contribute meaningfully to product improvements.

Nice to Have

Consulting/Services Background: Experience at Accenture, Palantir, IBM, Oracle Consulting, Deloitte, or similar: someone who knows how enterprise technology decisions actually get made.

Migration Experience: Hands-on involvement in legacy-to-modern migration projects (Forms to APEX, COBOL to Java, mainframe decommissioning, etc.).

AI/LLM Curiosity: You don't need to be an ML engineer, but you're genuinely excited about how AI is changing what's possible in legacy modernization.

Platform Stack: Python or JavaScript proficiency alongside your legacy skills.

CEE Market Knowledge: Existing relationships or domain knowledge in Hungarian and Central European enterprise IT (banking, government, energy, telecom).

Pre-Sales or Solutions Engineering: You've done technical pre-sales, scoping, or solution design for enterprise deals.

Database Administration: Oracle DBA, DB2 admin, or similar -- you understand the infrastructure these systems run on, not just the application layer.

What We Value

  • Ownership: you take a deployment from kickoff to expansion without waiting for permission.
  • Customer Obsession: you measure your success by the customer's success: adoption, satisfaction, renewal.
  • Domain Mastery: you take pride in understanding legacy systems deeply and translating that expertise into customer outcomes.
  • Pragmatism: you ship what solves the problem.
  • Curiosity: you're interested in how AI changes what's possible in environments everyone else has written off.
  • Collaboration: you connect customer needs and engineering execution: you're the feedback loop that makes the product better. Builder's Mindset: you want to build something, not just work somewhere.

This Role Is for You If...

You've spent years working with enterprise IT, maybe in consulting, maybe in a services org, maybe as the internal engineer who kept the lights on for a bank's core system. You know what Oracle Forms triggers look like at 2 AM during a production incident. You've earned the trust of enterprise stakeholders not by talking, but by delivering. Now you want to take all that experience and use it to build something new: a platform that makes legacy modernization significantly better. You want to be the person customers call when it matters, and you want your field experience to directly shape the product. Grey hair is welcome. Fire in the belly is required.
