About

We are building a tool we wish we had in the past 18 years

Gergely and Miklos, high school friends, started Sonrisa in 2006. It grew from a two-person team into a software engineering services powerhouse with over 300 engineers and 8 offices in 4 countries. Over the years, the team has accumulated tremendous experience through 200+ customer projects, many of which involved maintaining and modernizing mission-critical, legacy systems that had been in operation for a considerable period.

Legacy systems are a natural consequence of the continuously evolving nature of technology. Today’s state-of-the-art tech will become the legacy systems of tomorrow, making legacy systems a constant in technological progress. Despite compatibility and maintenance challenges, these systems are essential, encapsulating years of business knowledge and processes, underscoring the necessity of strategic management and modernization.

Supporting, updating, and migrating legacy tech is challenging for various reasons: outdated software platforms, tribal knowledge, great complexity, incomplete or missing documentation, missing tests, and mysterious incidents.

With the advent of LLMs, we initially began working on a product as part of an internal research project that processes and understands the knowledge base associated with legacy projects and unlock their potential. This knowledge will be easily accessible and democratized for every engineer, QA, or BA. From this research, Kodesage emerged as a spin-off. And today …

We are on a mission to empower software team to quickly understand, navigate and modernize legacy tech stacks
